Port Townsend Farmers Market opening ceremony set for Saturday

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Farmers Market will host an opening celebration with more than 80 vendors from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The event will be in Uptown Port Townsend at the intersection of Tyler and Lawrence streets.

The market will welcome some new vendors this year, offering farm-fresh goods, art and prepared foods. In addition, longtime favorite farmers, artisans and chefs will return.

The opening day timeline will begin at 8:45 a.m. with a gathering at Tyler and Lawrence streets.

At 9 a.m., a group photo and ribbon cutting ceremony will be conducted with Port Townsend Mayor David Faber, Julia-Ellen Spruill-Smith, the vice president of the Jefferson County Farmers Market board, and Natalie Motson, the JCFM board secretary.

At 9:05 a.m., Ground Control Goats will parade through the market, accompanied by live music by Kristin and Otto Smith.

From 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Family Storytime will be presented with the Port Townsend Public Library on the lawn at the Port Townsend Community Center.

While the Port Townsend Farmers Market opens Saturday, the Chimacum Farmers Market is set to open June 2.
