Port Ludlow Artists’ League to host reception

PORT LUDLOW — Port Ludlow Artists’ League will host an artist reception for its February Show, “Mightier than the Sword: A Study in Pen, Pencil &Graphite,” on Wednesday.

Artists and their artwork will be in the lobby of Sound Community Bank from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Next door, the League Gallery is open from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., offering light nibbles and art. The bank and the gallery are at the corner of Oak Bay Road and Osprey Ridge Drive.

The artwork by League artists Fran Bodman, Jeanne Joseph and Marti Mathis ranges from black and white to shaded colors and colorful markers; all with everyday writing instruments.

The Port Ludlow Gallery hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Member meetings are open to public for $5 each.

They are:

• Feb. 15 — 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., “Printmaking with Acrylics” with Barbara DePirro, Bay Club, 120 Spinnaker Place.

• March 15 — 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Port Townsend School of Arts “Spring Sampler.” Bay Club.

Winter workshops are planned this month and in March. They are:

• Watercolor with instructor Christine Witte — this Friday as well as Feb. 17 and 24. To register and for more information, email c_m_witte@hotmail.com.

• Beginning Drawing with instructor Marty Mathis — March 10, 17, and 24. To register and for more information, contact martimathis@wavecable.com.

Artists in any medium are welcome to discuss, provide constructive critiques and share camaraderie at a group that meets the first Wednesday of the month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bay Club.
