PORT LUDLOW — The Port Ludlow Art League will host a reception for Donna Dowdney from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The reception will begin at Sound Community Bank, 9500 Oak Bay Road, then move to the league’s adjacent gallery at 5 p.m.
Dowdney and Georgenne Muse are the league’s featured artists throughout May.
Dowdney is a mixed media artist who creates designs with acrylics on canvas and then prints them on fabric.
Dowdney uses bold, saturated colors to capture the energy of the design and uses beads, mirrors, ribbons and threads to add sparkle and movement.
Dowdney said she found inspiration in the recent discoveries from the James Webb Space Telescope.
“I have been designing with spirals since I began creating art,” she said. “Now I see how my designs relate to the art of the universe. Nature’s dance of life inspires my art, as my designs encircle, spiral, branch and wander.”
Dowdney’s art has been displayed at the Pacific International Quilt Festival, Washington State History Museum, Washington State Convention Center and the Latimer Textile and Quilt Center.

Muse creates artisan wire jewelry using semi-precious stones collected over many years. Muse’s jewelry features sterling silver and semi-precious stones that reflect the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Both artists’ works are on display from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays at the league’s gallery throughout May.
