Port Ludlow Art League exhibits work

Gary Griswold is artist of the month; Georganne Muse is jeweler of the month

PORT LUDLOW — Watercolorist and boat model builder Gary Griswold is the Port Ludlow Art League’s artist of the month while Georganne Muse is the group’s jeweler of the month.

Both will be at the league’s Second Wednesday Reception this week in the lobby of the Port Ludlow Sound Community Bank from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and next door at the Port Ludlow Art Gallery from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

As of Monday, the reception was still scheduled for Wednesday, weather permitting. For information on a possible cancellation or postponement, call PLAL board President Carol Galvan at 360-437-9801.

The bank and gallery are located at the corner of Oak Bay Road and Osprey Ridge Drive in Port Ludlow.

Griswold’s artwork will be on display at the Sound Community Bank during the month of February. His show features a variety of new seascapes, his grandchild at the ocean, mountain vistas and the flying boat from the Aero Museum auction.

According to a press release, Griswold prefers painting outdoors in natural settings. He said he’s inspired by wind, temperature and the scents of nature. In addition to painting, he builds scale models of classic boats. His models have been on display in Port Townsend galleries, the Port Ludlow Inn and the Port Ludlow Art Gallery.

He also has published five books featuring his watercolors: “Rusty Cars, Planes, Boats and Toys,” “Stick and Paper Miracles,” “Trips and Destinations,” “Painting the Pacific Northwest” and “Painting the Northwest Beaches.” His books are available at the Port Ludlow Art Gallery next to Sound Community Bank.

Muse’s work will be on display through the month of February at the Port Ludlow Art Gallery.

After collecting semi-precious stones for years, she purchased a book on creating artisan wire jewelry and found that she enjoyed turning colorful stones into jewelry.

“Aside from creating beautiful artwork, Georganne found that the repetitive movements of wire-wrapping put her in a pleasing Zen-like state, which is reflected in her jewelry,” organizers said.

Exhibit at the Bay Club

The work of Olympic Abstract Artists Group will on display all month at the Port Ludlow Bay Club, 120 Spinnaker Place.

The artwork on display covers a wide range of styles and techniques.

Exhibiting artists include Eleanor and Jim Watson Gove from Port Townsend, Joanie Klorer from Bainbridge Island, and Ann Gagnier, Muse, Pamela Raine, Jackie VanNoy and Patricia Webber of Port Ludlow.

For more information, contact Carol Galvan, league president, at 360-437-9801 or email her at carol.galvan@sbcglobal.net.
