PORT ANGELES — Poet Judith Lindberg of Port Angeles has had one of her poems set to music and performed in the Greater Milwaukee area of Wisconsin.

Richard Hynson, composer and music director of several different ensembles in the region, put the poem, “Come Home for Christmas” to music. It was performed on numerous dates by the large chorus Bel Canto at their Christmas program in Wisconsin. Lindberg was given a virtual ticket, so she could view a performance at the Basilica Saint Josaphat in Milwaukee, Wis.

She described it as “a stunning setting with gorgeous music, performed by an outstanding chorus of talented voices. It was thrilling to hear my words set to music by this talented music director and composer.”

Lindberg is a retired school counselor who worked primarily at Franklin Elementary School for all but about one of her 27 years in the district. She served as a counselor at the high school for one year.

She has been published in “Family Celebrations: Poems, Toasts and Traditions for Every Occasion,” “To Have and To Hold,” “Miracles of Motherhood,” “Heal Your Soul Heal the World,” and in several educational magazines and other literary publications.

Here is the poem, “Come Home for Christmas:”

Unlock the door of your heart/Enter the gentleness within/Open the window of your soul/Breathe in the season of miracles/No matter how far you’ve traveled/It’s time to come home now/Where Christmas abounds in love.
