Port Angeles theater presents children’s homegrown holiday show

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Community Players Children’s Theater will present “A Christmas Spectacular” variety show this weekend.

“This variety show would even put Scrooge in the holiday spirit,” said director Donette Hope, the mother of a cast member.

The show will be at 7 tonight, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission will be by donation at the door at Port Angeles Community Playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The show combines the plays “What Could Go Wrong The Night Before Christmas” by Kim Kao Hines and “The Christmas Cookie Caper,” written by the cast.

It also features dancing sugarplums, elves, tap dancing, caroling and a child violinist.

“Whatever you can afford is acceptable to us; we just want every child to be able to enjoy it,” stage manager Traci Waknitz said.

The cast ranges in age from 2 to 14.

Members include Charlie and Rylie Blackwell, Lillie Commeree, Bethany and Eli DeJesus, Bennett and Braden Gray, Jenna Hampton, Zade and Zoie Harris, Kaelyn Herring, Brock Hope, Holden Hughes, Molly and Conrad Kussin, Avonlea Lawrence, McHenry Miller, Matthew Pritchett, Sam Rees, Belle Robinson, Isaac and Julia Rutledge, Veronica Schaefermeyer, Audrey Tesreau, Cela and Killian Waknitz, Finn and Mabel Waknitz, and ShyAnn Welch.
