Port Angeles Symphony’s evening at Camaraderie Cellars set for Friday

PORT ANGELES — Vibes, viola, Bach and “Ain’t Misbehavin’” — they’re all together for the Port Angeles Symphony’s ninth-annual Evening at Camaraderie Cellars on Friday at Camaraderie Cellars, 334 Benson Road.

A few tickets are left for the event, which includes four sets of music, supper and wine for $75, said conductor-music director-trombone player Jonathan Pasternack.

Proceeds benefit the symphony, a group that presents 13 concerts in Port Angeles and Sequim as well as a peninsula-wide education program, Adventures in Music, each season.

For reservations, phone the symphony office at 360-457-5579 or email PASymphony@olypen.com.

Gates open at 6 p.m. and the music starts at 6:30 p.m.

The evening’s performers include:

• The Port Angeles Symphony String Quintet, with cellists Traci Winters Tyson and Mike Center, violist Tyrone Beatty and violinists Marina Rosenquist and Heather Ray, who will offer a Schubert piece;

• Violist Lauren Waldron of Port Angeles, winner of the symphony’s Nico Snel Young Artist Competition this year, who will play a Bach suite;

• The Peninsula Brass Quintet, with Pasternack on trombone, Kristin Quigley Brye on horn, trumpeters John Stava and Scott Meredith and Tyler Benedict on tuba, who will offer classical pieces plus the Fats Waller-Harry Brooks classic “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” and

• Multi-instrumentalist Craig Buhler, keyboardist Al Harris, bassist Ted Enderle and vibes man Chris Lee, who will fill out the concert with what Pasternack calls “high-powered jazz.”

The winery’s Rhapsody in Red blend, made especially for the Port Angeles Symphony, will be among the refreshments.
