Port Angeles Fine Arts Center to host reception for ‘Lighten Up’

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center will host a reception for the opening of “Lighten Up” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.

The event will be in the center’s Esther Webster Gallery, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

The exhibit celebrates color and humor using neon to explore light as language, material and mood.

“We are excited to lead with this light-based exhibit as we enter into our fall and winter programming that is designed to bring light to the darkness,” said Rachel Storck, the center’s director of operations.“The participating artists in Lighten Up have created a joyful, whimsical and colorful world of neon that will usher you into the changing seasons with a sense of delight. We hope community members and visitors will join us in our neon playground, where seriousness takes a backseat and the glow of imagination leads the way.”

Participating artists include Sarah Cass, Dani K, KCJ, Bri Chesler, Marisa Manso and MinHi England.

Light bites will be provided during the free reception, and drinks will be available for purchase.

“Lighten Up” will be on display in the Esther Webster Gallery from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays until Nov. 2.
