Port Angeles Fine Arts Center seeking submissions

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center is seeking artwork for several upcoming exhibitions.

The center plans to show three new exhibits this year, “Summertide: Function in the Forest,” “Poetry in the Park” and “Surf, Skate and Snow,” as well as art for the annual Wintertide Makers Market.

Olympic Peninsula Authors are curating poetry submissions on the theme of “The Music of Summer” for the fourth year of Poetry in the Park.

The program prints locally written poetry on display boards that will be posted in Webster’s Woods.

Submissions are due by March 31 and may be in any poetry format up to 28 lines in length.

Poems should be submitted as a Microsoft Word document attached to an email to olypenauthors@olypen.com; authors should include their contact information with their submission.

Selected poets will read their submission on June 14 during the Summertide Solstice Art Festival, and the poems will remain on display for the following year.

For more information regarding Poetry in the Park, email lindabmyers@yahoo.com.

The Fine Arts Center also is seeking outdoor-friendly, functional artwork for permanent installation in Webster’s Woods.

“Summertide: Function in the Forest” will feature sculptures that offer utility, inspire interaction and deepen visitors’ connection to the environment.

Installations will be accepted from artists and teams nationwide until April 20.

The center also is seeking art for a new exhibition, “Surf, Skate and Snow,” that explores the dynamic intersection of sport, design and creative placemaking in harmony with the natural landscape.

The center is looking for eco-friendly designs and nature-based artwork that is either created on a surfboard, skateboard, snowboard or skis or is inspired by any of these activities and the outdoors.

Entries should be submitted by May 10.

Additionally, the center is seeking locally produced artisan gift items for its sixth Wintertide Makers Market.

The annual market connects shoppers with locally made gifts in a peaceful, natural setting.

The market will be open from Nov. 28 to Dec. 14.

Submissions will be accepted from artists and artisans who live in Clallam and Jefferson counties through Aug. 10. For more information, visit www.pafac.org/calls-for-art.
