Play, hike and performances set on Peninsula this weekend

Entertainment is lined up for this weekend on the North Olympic Peninsula.

• “The Dresser” opens tonight at the Port Angeles Community Playhouse at 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The play runs tonight, Saturday, Tuesday and March 3, 4, 7, 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 5 and March 12 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $9 for students. Tuesday performances are $9 at the door and can be purchased at pacommunityplayers.org. Masks are recommended at all performances but will be required at the March 5 performance.

• Time Out is at 7 p.m. tonight at the Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim.

Music, dancing and wine are to be had in the Gathering Hall at the theater. Time Out features songs from the Great American Songbook, Broadway shows, Blues and easy listening. The Gathering Hall will be arranged to allow an open dance floor for those wanting to get up and shake a leg.

Tickets are $15 and are available online at olympic theatrearts.org or by calling the box office between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

• Jack Dwyer will play from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Spirits Bar and Grill in the Old Alcohol Plant, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Port Hadlock. No cover charge.

• Cat’s Meow will perform from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Port Angeles Eagles, 2843 E. Myrtle St., Port Angeles.

The cover charge is $10 per person, $8 for members.

Senior Date Night, including dinner at 5:30 p.m. and dancing, is available for $15 per person.

• Buttercup Lane will play blues, classic rock, R&B, swing and beyond for a dance at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road, Sequim, this Sunday.

The music will flow from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a $12 cover charge, $10 for lodge members.

Birding hike is at 9 a.m. Saturday. It will be led by Beverly McNeil.

The monthly hikes at Fort Flagler State Park, 10541 Flagler Road, recur on the fourth Saturday of each month.

The hikes are subject to cancellation due to bad weather.

McNeil is a photographer and Admiralty Audubon Society trip leader.

Attendees should wear sturdy footwear, dress for changeable weather and bring their own water and binoculars.

• How to prune roses will be presented by Mary Crook at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The presentation is at a Sequim Botanical Garden Society Work to Learn party at the Terrace Garden in Carrie Blake Community Park, 202 N. Blake Ave.

Participants will help to prune the roses to get them ready to bloom.

The presentation is free and open to the public; attendees should bring sharp clippers and wear gloves.

Chemakum Tribe will host a community gathering from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the auditorium at Chimacum High School, 91 West Valley Road.

The program will open with an update on the tribe’s re-emergence by Rosalee Walz, chair of the Chemakum Tribal Council.

Walz’s update will be followed by a screening of the 2022 documentary “Doctrine of Recovery.”

Selected portraits from Brian Goodman’s “Still Here, Portraits of the Chemakum,” and new portraits, will be on display.

The program is sponsored by Chemakum Tribal Services and the Native Connections Action Group of the Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

Donations for Chemakum Tribal Services will be welcomed.

• Introduction to Tarot will be presented by Joanne Clarkson at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Clarkson will speak in the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

Clarkson will discuss the history and meaning of Tarot, how the set of cards can be used for readings and reflection and ways to interpret the cards. She also will show how to do a quick reading.

Clarkson will reprise her presentation on Thursday, March 2, over Zoom.

Clarkson is the author of “There’s Always a Miracle: True Stories of Life Before and After Death” and the poetry collection “Hospice House.”
