Pipia Sisters to offer tubas, laughter and song

PORT TOWNSEND — The Pipia Sisters will entertain with two concerts of original music at Better Living Through Coffee at 7 tonight and Saturday.

The concerts are at the coffee shop at 100 Taylor St.

Admission will be by donation.

Playing an innovative instrumental mix from tuba to guitar, ukulele to accordion, the Pipia Sisters’ unique brand of music includes surprising lyrics. Expect songs about sandwiches and elevators, the moon, the sun and old bathrobes.

It’s been four years since the duo has hosted one of their concerts at Better Living Through Coffee (BLTC).

“We’re stoked to play another night of music at our all-time favorite coffee shop,” Phina Pipia said. “Its friendly vibes and comfortable atmosphere make the ideal place for a fun music event.”

In addition to their concerts, the Pipia Sisters are known in Port Townsend for original productions with the theater company Generation Goat Rocket.

The sisters are fresh off a summer tour through Southeast Alaska, where they honed more of their original music.

“We’ve cooked up a very special night of songs for our Port Townsend friends,” Sophie Pipia said.

“Our goal is always to provide something inspiring and unexpected, and this concert hits the spot.”
