Pink Floyd tribute band to perform in Port Townsend

Pigs on the Wing to play on two nights

PORT TOWNSEND — Pigs on the Wing, a Pink Floyd tribute band, will perform tonight and Saturday in Port Townsend.

“Pigs on the Wing has on occasion been referred to as ‘the most punk rock of the Pink Floyd tributes’ and that is a badge the band wears with unequivocal pride,” organizers said in a press release.

“None are bigger fans of the work of Pink Floyd than the members of Pigs on the Wing, and while the band approaches the material with the deepest respect for legacy of the music, they also chart a course suggesting a willingness to push the musical boundaries of a traditional tribute band.”

The band will perform unique sets each night at the American Legion Hall, 209 Monroe St. Doors will open at 8 p.m., with the show beginning at 8:30 p.m. Two sets are planned each night.

Ticket information is available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pigs-on-the-wing.

The band will perform in entirety The Dark Side of the Moon tonight and Wish You Were Here on Saturday. The second set each night will offer a mix of Floyd classics.

Pigs on the Wing is composed of Jason Baker (guitar/vocals); Bryan Fairfield (drums); Holly Brooks (vocals); David Lindenbaum (guitar/vocals); Eric Welder (bass/vocals); and Matt Jones (keys/vocals).

Tracing its roots to a one-off performance in Portland in 2006, Pigs on the Wing focuses on 1970s-era Pink Floyd and has in recent years featured full album performances of Dark Side of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall as well as a wide range of material from Floyd’s earlier years.

The members of the band are said to “balance a decidedly un-tribute-like attitude towards the music with a deep understanding of the precision and importance of Pink Floyd’s music in many fans’ lives.”
