‘Peppy, funny’ singer songwriter to perform in Coyle

COYLE — Singer and songwriter Carrie Clark will perform Sunday afternoon as part of the ongoing Concerts in the Woods series.

“She has an amazing collection of her own works that are both peppy and funny. Carrie recently returned from touring Europe and promises to have stories to share, some new songs, and she may even throw in a couple holiday songs for folks to sing along with,” said Norm Johnson, Coyle concerts founder.

“Carrie’s shows are always fun.”

The performance is set to begin at 3 p.m. at the community center, 923 Hazel Point Road.

Admission to the all-ages show is by donation.

Complimentary cookies and coffee will be offered at intermission.

An Oregon native weaned on classics by Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, the Beach Boys and ABBA — Clark immersed herself in music at an early age, teaching herself to play piano and guitar, and writing her own songs, according to her biography.

Since moving to Seattle, Clark’s ventures have included an indie pop ensemble, a folk duo and a jazz big band.

Explorations

Clark’s songs explore one-night stands, femme fatales and cowboy lullabies, with her drawing upon classic country, folk and jazz to create a unique collision of styles, effects and textures, according to her website.

Her latest release, “It’s Christmastime,” was co-written with Seattle producer Martin Feveyear and features her backing band, the Lonesome Lovers.

Community center

The community center is located at the southern tip of the Toandos Peninsula and is operated by the Jefferson County Parks and Recreation District with help from area residents.
