PEO bazaar in Sequim to feature gifts, baked goods, books galore this Saturday

SEQUIM — Chapter JC of PEO International will have its eighth bazaar from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the foyer of Sequim Community Church.

Shoppers will find an array of handcrafted gifts and home-baked goods at the bazaar including fabric pumpkins, Christmas decorations, cards, sturdy toys and plant caddies at the church, 950 N. Fifth Ave.

In addition to gift items and baked goods, the bazaar will feature gently used books, games and puzzles, and a raffle.

The Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Club of Sequim donated three one-of-a-kind items for the raffle: a quilted Christmas stocking, a 36-inch-square Christmas quilt and a 36-inch-by-45-inch crib quilt. The Christmas stocking is stuffed to the brim with useful gifts for the holidays. Raffle tickets are $1.

They are available from Chapter JC members and will be on sale at the bazaar before the drawing.

Three winning tickets will be drawn at 1 p.m. Saturday at the bazaar.

The winner need not be present.

Chapter JC hosts the annual bazaar to raise funds for PEO, a Philanthropic Educational Organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grant awards, loans and stewardship of Cottey College; and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.

The chapter has nominated Jaycee Thompson-Porrazzo for a scholarship. The scholarship was established in 2009 for exceptional high school senior women in the United States and Canada to attend an accredited post-secondary educational institution in the United States or Canada in the next academic year.

Thompson-Porrazzo will receive her diploma from Sequim High School and her associate degree from Peninsula College in June. She hopes to attend Olympic College in Bremerton to become a certified physical therapist assistant.

Chapter JC is one of 13 PEO chapters on the Olympic Peninsula.

Information about PEO is available at www.peowashington.org.
