Pennies for Quarters, Great Decisions discussion set Thursday

Pennies for Quarters

PORT ANGELES — Matthew Rainwater will discuss the status of the Pennies for Quarters project when he addresses a meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Port Angeles at noon Thursday.

The club meets weekly at Joshua’s Restaurant, 113 Del Guzzi Drive.

The public is invited to attend the free meeting; food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Green Thumb lecture

PORT ANGELES — Keith Dekker will present “Pruning Ornamentals” at noon Thursday.

The lecture is part of the Green Thumb Garden Tips series presented in the county commissioners meeting room in the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.

Dekker will discuss pruning mounding shrubs, cane growers, trees and tree-like shrubs focusing on late winter pruning of roses, hydrangeas, clematis and wisteria.

Attendees are welcome to bring a lunch to eat during the presentation.

Studium Generale

PORT ANGELES — Lara Starcevich will present “Improv Can Improve Your Life” at 12:35 p.m. Thursday.

Starcevich’s presentation is part of the Studium Generale series in the Little Theater at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Starcevich has been teaching speech and drama at the college since 2008.

The Studium is free and open to the public.

FORKS — All veterans are welcome to Coffee with Comrades from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursdays.

The event is at the Forks VFW 9106 post, 110 S. Spartan Ave.

The coffee time is free.

Bingo night

FORKS — West End Sportsmen will host bingo night at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The fundraiser will be at the club at 243 Sportsmen’s Club Road.

Proceeds will benefit hunter education and the annual Kids’ Fishing Day.

Arts meeting

SEQUIM — Barbara De Pirro will demonstrate Golden Artist Colors, Inc.’s mixed media products from 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursday.

De Pirro will be addressing a monthly meeting of the Olympic Peninsula Art Association at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth St.

De Pirro is a painter, sculptor, installation artist and educator sponsored by Golden Artist Colors, Inc.

Elks bingo

SEQUIM — Sequim Elks will host bingo games from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.

Games will be at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road.

Admission is free with a minimum buy-in of $10.

Players must be 18 years or older.

Proceeds will go to Elks scholarship programs, other charities and lodge operating expenses.
