Kids in costumes and their parents or guardians will trick-or-treat in North Olympic Peninsula downtowns on Halloween.
Participating merchants will have signs in their windows Thursday that announce they are open for trick-or-treaters in Port Townsend, Port Angeles, Sequim and Forks.
• The Port Townsend Main Street Program’s annual Downtown Trick or Treat will mark 25 years of the tradition.
To commemorate this milestone, the Port Townsend Main Street Program Promotion Committee is scheduling the Main Street Family Portrait Town Photo for the start of the parade.
Participants — who are urged to come in costume — will gather at 4 p.m. at Water and Adams streets.
The photo will be taken at 4:15 p.m. by photographer David Conklin. Jefferson County Public Utility District will supply a boom truck for the photographer. Mike Kenna of Printery Communications and East Jefferson Fire-Rescue also will assist, organizers said.
The Main Street Witches will be in the front row. After the photo they will lead the parade down Water Street.
Trick-or-treating by pre-school to sixth-grade children will be at participating downtown businesses on the way back.
The Downtown Trick or Treat is sponsored by The Old Whiskey Mill, Olympic Peninsula Steam and many merchants.
Printery Communications will print the Family Portrait Town Photo posters, which will be available for sale for $10 each starting Nov. 1 at Elevated Ice Cream & Candy Co., 627 Water St., and at Printery Communications, 631 Tyler St.
Water Street and some side streets from Madison to Polk will be closed to traffic between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

• In Port Angeles, downtown merchants will hand out candy to trick-or-treaters from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.
A self-serve photo opportunity will be available at the Conrad Dyer Fountain at First and Laurel streets, said April Bellerud, president of the Port Angeles Downtown Association, which sponsors the trick-or-treating.
The William Shore Pool, Platypus Marine and the Upward Bound program plan tables outside during trick-or-treating.
Olympic Kiwanis volunteers and Upward Bound students will help with street crossings.
• The Sequim Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce will host Downtown Trick or Treat from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.
The Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce and Sequim merchants sponsor the free event.

• In Forks, trick-or-treating will be going on all day on Halloween at participating businesses, with the high point from 4:30 p.m. to 5:40 p.m. in the downtown.

FORKS — The Assembly of God church will host a Truck or Treat from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
More than 30 vehicles will be on the campus of the church at 81 Huckleberry Lane.

FORKS — Long Term Care’s annual Halloween Trick or Treating is planned at Forks Community Hospital at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Residents of Long Term Care at the hospital at 530 Bogachiel Way will hand out candy to children in costume.

Halloween
LA PUSH — The Quileute Tribe’s Halloween Carnival is planned from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The free carnival will be at the Akalat Center.
Games with prizes are planned.
PORT ANGELES
Costume
PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College will have a costume contest for current students and faculty at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.
The judging will be in the Pirates Union Building, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
Harvest
PORT ANGELES — Bethany Pentecostal Church plans a harvest party from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The free party will be at the church at 505 S. Francis St.
The event features face-painting, a trunk-or-treat, a cookie walk, hot dogs, chips and juice.

Open house
SEQUIM — Bananas Preschool will host an open house from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The school at 412 N. Haller Ave., will be open for families to enjoy candy, use the restroom or take a break while trick-or-treating near Carrie Blake Community Park.
Harvest theme
SEQUIM — Harvest-themed clothing or friendly costumes will be welcome at the “Harvest Happening” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
The harvest party will be at Faith Lutheran Church, 382 W. Cedar St.
It will feature games, prizes, candy, food, crafts, a cake walk and line dancing.
A dinner of hot dogs, chili and chips also will be provided.

The Bash
SEQUIM — King’s Way Foursquare Church will host “The Bash” from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Friendly costumes are welcome at the The Bash at 1023 Kitchen-Dick Road.

Admission is a non-perishable food donation for the Sequim Food Bank.
