Peninsula Gospel Singers to host nonprofit fundraiser

PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula Men’s Gospel Singers will raise their voices to support local charities at their annual benefit concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church.

Admission to the church at 139 W. Eighth St. is by donation and all proceeds will be passed on to local organizations. Karen Coles will provide signing for the deaf and hard of hearing.

All are welcome; doors will open at 2:30 p.m.

The concert will include “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” “Silence the Stones” and “This Little Light of Mine.”

The gospel choir’s Little Brass Band will improvise a foot-tapping version of “Just a Closer Walk with Thee.”

The Peninsula Men’s Gospel Singers organization is a nonprofit that represents more than eight churches and denominations from around Clallam County.

The group performs in churches, rest homes and retirement centers, performance halls and at the Clallam Bay prison.

Each year the men conclude their season with a concert that is dedicated to helping others financially.

Through generous community support, the group is able to raise hundreds of dollars for the designated recipients.

This year, funds are earmarked for Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, Olympic Christian School and My Choices.
