Peninsula events set for this weekend

A variety of events will be conducted on the North Olympic Peninsula this weekend.

• Early Music at the Grange: Schola Galante will begin the Early Music at the Grange concert series this weekend.

The first concert in the series is at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Quimper Grange, 1219 Corona Ave. in Port Townsend.

Tickets are $20.

The series focuses on 17th Century and 18th Century music played on instruments appropriate to the period.

The ensemble members are Dahti Blanchard, Lee Inman, Miguel Rodé and Douglass Hjelm.

The next concert in the series is set for Saturday, Nov. 18.

Organizers have asked attendees to wear face masks.

• THING: The Seattle Theatre Group and Adam Zacks will present the third THING music and arts festival this weekend at Fort Worden.

The annual festival features music, comedy and podcast acts and a variety of community-centered performances, programming and workshops each day.

The festival will also host 28 food trucks and 42 vendors at the THING Market.

The market features interactive art installations and the lantern-making booth with a lantern parade each evening.

Single-day passes are available for $129.50 per person and three-day passes are $349.50 at www.thingnw.org, www.stgpresents.org or www.ticketmaster.com.

Children 12 and younger are admitted free.

• Buzz Rogowski will perform from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight at the Old Alcohol Plant Inn, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Port Hadlock. No cover charge.

• Badd Dogg Blues will perform from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight at the Port Townsend Brewing Co., 330 10th St., Port Townsend. No cover charge.

• Mike and Val James will perform from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Spirits Bar and Grill in the Old Alcohol Plant Inn, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Port Hadlock.

• Joe Crecca and the Homewreckers will perform from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Port Townsend Brewing Co., 330 10th St., Port Townsend. No cover charge.

Shred event. Castell Insurance will host a Free Shred Event from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday.

The annual fundraiser is at Castell’s office at 426 E. Washington St. in Sequim.

All cash and checks donated will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs’ back to school drive.

Bake sale. The Sequim Guild of Seattle Children’s Hospital will conduct a bake sale from 8 a.m. to

3 p.m. Saturday.

The fundraising sale, the guild’s last for 2023, is at the Pumpkin Patch Flea Market, 260045 U.S. Highway 101.

The sale features homemade baked goods ranging from $8 to $15.

Proceeds benefit uncompensated care and research at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Genealogy class. The Clallam County Genealogical Society will present “I Know Nothing About Genealogy” at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The free class will be taught in the society’s research center, 403 E. Eighth St. in Port Angeles.

• Work to Learn Party. Dona Brock will lead a forum on lavender plants in home gardens at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The forum is part of the Sequim Botanical Garden Society’s Work to Learn Party series in the Terrace Garden at Carrie Blake Community Park, 202 N. Blake Ave.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

Summer’s End Festival. Social Norm’s Social Club will host its second Summer’s End Festival from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The free community celebration is in the event hall at First United Methodist Church, 110 E. Seventh St.

The festival features a cookout for lunch, games, face painting, a bouncy house, circus performers and free school supplies.

Children 12 and younger should be accompanied by an adult.
