Peninsula College to open dual exhibit

PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College will open a dual exhibition in the PUB Gallery of Art on Tuesday.

This showcase will feature the sculptures of Jan Hoy and the photographs of Harry von Stark. It will run through Jan. 26.

In addition to the exhibition, both Hoy and von Stark will participate in Peninsula College’s Studium Generale series, providing attendees with insights into their creative processes.

This presentation is scheduled for 12:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in the Little Theater on the Port Angeles campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd. It also will be livestreamed via Zoom at pencol-edu.zoom.us/j/82308557946. The meeting ID is 823 0855 7946.

Both the exhibition and Studium Generale presentation are free and open to the public.

Hoy is known for sculptures that explore the balance between material and form. Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and collections nationwide.

Hoy describes her work as an exploration of “emotions embodied in form, each piece narrating a tale of discovery and challenge.”

Von Stark, on the other hand, brings a collection of photographs that range from vast landscapes to detailed portraits. Stark’s photography has been recognized for its composition and detail, with the artist aiming to “capture the soul of the moment” in each shot, organizers said.
