Peninsula authors to read at Park View Villas’ first in a series of presentations

PORT ANGELES — Park View Villas will host an afternoon with Olympic Peninsula authors from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

The open-to-the-public event at 1430 Park View Lane is the first in the 2017 series “Park View Villas Presents.”

Editors of the anthology “In the Words of Olympic Peninsula Authors” and founders of Olympic Peninsula Authors, Linda B. Myers and Heidi Hansen will be on hand to share how they brought local writers together and created the collection of works.

“Our area is rich with fine writers,” Myers said.

“It’s time we raise the community’s awareness of the stories we create by becoming a more visible part of the artist community. That is the goal of Olympic Peninsula Authors.”

Joining Hansen and Myers, contributing authors Elizabeth K. Pratt, Jon Eekhoff, Jan Adams and Judy Duncan will all read excerpts from their chapter in the book.

Pratt, the new community relations director at Park View Villas, is behind the new series of talks.

“I am so excited to share this project as our first ‘Park View Villas Presents’ program for 2017,” she said.

“It was an honor to be included, and I am thrilled that Linda and Heidi were willing to bring the group to us.”

Refreshments prepared by the Park View Villas kitchen will be served, and the authors will have copies of both the anthology and their personal works, including Myers’ Bear Jacobs P.I. novels, available for purchase.

“Park View Villas Presents” will continue on the second and fourth Thursday of every month, with programs beginning at 2 p.m.

In August, speakers will include people from the League of Women Voters and North Olympic Land Trust.

“Our goal is to highlight that which is special about living on the North Olympic Peninsula and what is happening around our community,” Pratt said.
