PORT ANGELES — The art of Gail McLain of Sequim will be highlighted at Harbor Art Gallery through May.
Harbor Art Gallery, located at 114 N. Laurel St. in the heart of downtown Port Angeles, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the exception of the Second Saturday Art Walk on May 14 when the gallery will be open until 7 p.m. Visitors can chat with many of the artists.
McLain has a long and varied background in art beginning from a decision in third grade to become an artist to graduation from the University of Washington’s graphic design program.
Since then in the following years, she has created in many mediums including lost wax bronze casting, acrylic and oil painting.
Her jewelry designs have been shown in several issues of Beadwork magazine and her colored pencil paintings appeared in The Best of Colored Pencil 3 and 5.
“Creating art is my passion,” she said. “I hope the viewer/wearer will find pleasure with my endeavors,” said McLain.
She will exhibit her colored pencil paintings as well as jewelry consisting of stunning bead work and intricate wire weaving using semi precious stone cabochons.
The gallery showcases work by local artists Bob Stokes and Cindy Elstrom, Carolyn Guske, Robert Amaral, Kelly Coffey, Garret Delabarre, Terri Ench, Tammy Hall, David Johannessohn, Susan Kantowitz, Ruth Kaspin, Tracy McCallum, Nancy McFaul, Gail McLain, Roger Mosley, Eric Neurath, Randy and Sallie Raddock, Jodi Riverstone, Nathan Shields, Lance and Haley Snider, Eileen Webb and Kevin Willson.
