Pacific Northwest Fiber Arts Expo set this weekend

PORT ANGELES — The fourth Pacific Northwest Fiber Arts Expo will return to Port Angeles this weekend.

The free annual event will be at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

The expo will feature a craft marketplace from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

The diverse range of classes, including painting with wool, eco printing, crocheting dragon scales, exploring Northwest wools, color in tapestry weaving and mosaic knitting are designed to fit a range of budgets and skill levels.

There also will be demonstrations of spindle and wheel spinning, needle felting, rug hooking and triangle loom weaving as well as projects to make and take.

“Our goal is to bring together all the talent and skills of the region to celebrate the wide range of fiber-related arts and crafts,” said Beth Witters, the expo’s marketing coordinator. “From spinning to felting, knitting to weaving, card weaving to dyeing, crochet and more, we plan to showcase, demonstrate, instruct and inspire.”

This year the expo will collaborate with the Peninsula Fiber Artists to stage a fashion show at 6:45 p.m. Saturday at Field Arts & Events Hall, 201 W. Front St., Port Angeles.
