OTA sets ‘Charlotte’s Web’ youth workshop, performances in 2024

SEQUIM — Olympic Theatre Arts is hosting a youth workshop in January and the cost is $21 cheaper if registration is before Dec. 31.

Young thespians are invited to learn about theater while preparing for a performance of “Charlotte’s Web.”

Workshops begin Monday, Jan. 8, with performances set for Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 20-21.

Tuition is $120 per student, with $10 for additional siblings. Sign up before Dec. 31 for $99. Scholarships are available for anyone in need, made available by the Benjamin N. Phillips Memorial Fund.

Participants will learn about acting, directing, stage management and design, running crews and stage crafts.

Leading the workshop is youth theatre educator Marissa Meek, an instructor with 30 years of experience who brought to OTA youth productions “Alice in Wonderland,” “Happily Ever After” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” as well as the production design of “The Somewhat True Tales of Robin Hood” and the direction of “The Book of Will.”

Rehearsals are from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, Jan. 8-12, and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, Jan. 15-29.

The ensemble of third- , fourth- and fifth-graders is from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., while those in grades 6-12 and leads in grades 3-5 rehearse between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Performances are at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21.

The workshop has a minimum enrollment of 10 and maximum of 45.
