PORT TOWNSEND — Trinity United Methodist Church will host the Olympic Peninsula chapter of the American Guild of Organist for a concert at 7 tonight.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. at the church at 609 Taylor St. Admission is by a suggested $10 freewill donation to benefit the American Guild of Organists. Children will be admitted free of charge.
The concert will showcase Mark Brombaugh performing on a modern emulation of a 1735 Gottfried Silbermann Baroque-style organ.
Brombaugh will perform with oboist Shannon Spicciati.
The selections for the evening performance include Rheinberger’s “Rhapsodie for Organ and Oboe,” Buxtehude’s Toccata in F Major and Dahl’s “Petit Suite Francaise for Oboe and Organ.”
This is the third concert cooperatively presented by Trinity United Methodist Church and the Guild of Northwest Masters of the Organ. Previously featured were Halden Toy and Leslie Martin.
The Peninsula guild provides scholarships for local youth, workshops and concerts by nationally known artists.
The organs at Trinity United Methodist Church have been built and installed over a period of many years and are widely known for their excellence. One is a demonstration of neo-Baroque voicing and the cabinet organ is a fine example of unaltered Romantic American organs.
