Olympic Theatre Arts wants plays on theme of resilience

SEQUIM — Olympic Theatre Arts is seeking original, 10-minute play scripts for the New Works Showcase.

OTA is looking for writers, both seasoned and beginner, to submit original scripts with the theme of resilience. The deadline is April 1.

The community theatre and performing arts center is planning to produce four to five short plays to take the stage, hopefully in person, not virtual — in July, said Pete Griffin, marketing & image manager, in a press release.

“Now, who of you out there have learned a little about resilience this past year?” Griffin said. “Well, write it down for goodness sake. Create a ten-minute play and be somebody! Be a playwright!”

All selected writers will have the chance to immerse themselves in the theatrical process while bringing their works to life.

“Creating new works stimulates community creativity and provides essential avenues for community engagement,” Griffin said. ” OTA’s New Works Showcase will be an opportunity, not only for entertainment, but for community inspiration and education as well.”

For Showcase guidelines, application and script writing template, see OlympicTheatreArts.org.
