Olympic Theatre Arts sets auditions for ‘A Facility of Living’

Tryouts planned for Feb. 5, Feb. 8

SEQUIM — Olympic Theatre Arts will conduct open auditions for “A Facility of Living” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, and at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8.

The auditions will be at OTA’s theater, , at 414 N. Sequim Ave.

Facility is a two-act dark comedy by Katie Forgette set in a prison which has been turned into an elder care center.

Actors will be asked to cold read from the script, copies of which can be borrowed from the OTA office.

Director Christy Holy will be casting three men and three women for the May production.

The characters include Joe Taylor, 65+, a loyal, tenacious, retired actor; Kevin, 25-35, a tattooed aide whose aspirations exceed opportunities and perhaps intellect; Wally Carmichael, 65+, an overweight cranky mush-pot with a well-hidden, but present, regard for human frailty; Beatrice “Judy” Hart, 65+, ill, but not so that you would necessarily notice; Nurse Claudia, 30-50, speaks quickly and with authority, tough love practitioner, not sadistic; Mitzi Kramer, 65+, former nurse, now resident with declining health but not kindness.

Actors who are unable to attend the scheduled auditions can email Holy at clholy@gmail.com to arrange an alternate audition.
