Olympic Theatre Arts auditions set Sunday, Monday for upcoming play

SEQUIM — Auditions for the Olympic Theatre Arts production of “Over the River and Through the Woods” are set for 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday.

Auditions for the show, which will open March 31, will be at Olympic Theatre Arts at 414 N. Sequim Ave.

Rehearsals will begin this month and run through March, typically Monday through Thursday evenings, beginning at 7 p.m. at OTA.

Three women and three men are needed for casting.

The story centers on the character Nick Cristano, a single, Italian-American fellow from New Jersey. Every Sunday, Nick has dinner with his two sets of grandparents. This is routine until one Sunday he tells them he’s been offered his dream job.

The only problem is that he must leave Hoboken for the promotion in faraway Seattle.

The grandparents — Frank, Aida, Nunzio and Emma — do their best to try to keep Nick from heading to Seattle by setting him up with the lovely and single Caitlin O’Hare, who is in her 20s.

Nick is in his 30s and his grandparents are in their 70s and 80s.

“Over the River and Through the Woods” is written by Joe DiPietro and will be directed by Roger Briggs.

After opening, the play will run for three weekends at Olympic Theatre Arts.

Auditions are open to all and will consist of reading selected scenes from the play. Being familiar with the play is helpful but not required. Scripts are available for review at the theater business office, which is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

For more information, contact Briggs at 360-681-3918 or the theater office at 360-683-7326.
