Olympic Theater Arts offers last weekend of ‘Bingo!’ and Ren Faire auditions

SEQUIM — Olympic Theater Arts will host the final weekend of “Bingo! The Winning Musical” tonight through Sunday and will conduct auctions for a Renaissance Faire on Saturday.

Bingo! is about a group of die-hard bingo players who stop at nothing to miss their weekly game. In between the number calling, strange rituals and fierce competitions, love blossoms and long-lost friends reunite.

Olympic Theater Arts, at 414 N. Sequim Ave., has expanded the stage 4 feet into the audience seating area to connect the viewers more with the production.

Tickets are $24, students $15 and are available online at olympictheatrearts.org or by calling the box office between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Tonight’s show will be Pay What You Will. Admission is by donation.

Auditions for an August Renaissance Faire will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the theater.

The directors are seeking a variety of talented cast members for walk-around characters, monologuists, Shakespearian scenes and an interactive and immersive new renaissance project specially designed for OTA’s faire, according to a press release.

No accent is required for any role.

Rehearsals are planned between April and August. Rehearsal schedule is tentatively set between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, but is flexible depending on other actors.

During the festival, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 13-14, Shakespeare’s characters will wander the grounds, each reciting a monologue multiple times and speaking in character.

Shakespeare’s most famous scenes will be narrated and presented as a “tour” of his career. Actors will play multiple roles.

A 15- to 20-minute comedy will tell the story of Macbeth. Preference given to those available to rehearse Thursday or Friday mornings, and who are experienced with (or at least comfort around) actors with developmental disabilities.
