Old Alcohol Plant in Port Hadlock to host art showcase Saturday

PORT HADLOCK — The Old Alcohol Plant will host an art walk showcase from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.

The showcase will be open to the public at the resort at 310 Hadlock Bay Road.

Admission to the showcase is free, with a cash bar benefiting the resort’s nonprofit partner, Bayside Housing &Services.

Opened for need-based guests in April, Bayside currently inhabits one floor of the resort’s East Building and has provided more than 1,600 bed nights to community members in need since opening, according to a news release.

An additional floor of the East Building includes hotel rooms and 12 hostel bunks, with rooms in the West Building also available to guests.

The Old Alcohol Plant (OAP) also is launching a new series of two-day art workshops celebrating handmade holiday gifts and other craft items.

Instructors will display their work during the art walk showcase, which also serves as a conduit where the public can learn more about the workshops before signing up or purchase ready-made versions of the pieces.

In addition to the instructor’s pieces, stone sculptures by artist Arliss Newcomb also will be on display. Newcomb will be teaching stone sculpting classes at OAP next spring.

Each two-day workshop this month costs $110. The fee includes all materials needed to make multiple unique pieces utilizing a variety of techniques, according to the news release.

The workshops are:
