Northwind to host Neill, Hull for ‘songs of struggle’

PORT TOWNSEND — Northwind Arts Center will welcome Portland singer-songwriter Casey Neill for an evening of original songs of struggle at 7 tonight with special guest Whidbey Island singer-songwriter Timothy Hull.

Tickets are $20 at Northwind Arts Center, 701 Water St., or from caseytim.brownpapertickets.com.

Neill has performed throughout the world on such stages as New York’s Town Hall, San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall and Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket.

He has played as a member of the Minus Five as well as sharing stages with Jello Biafra, Pete Seeger, Sunny Day Real Estate and Camper Van Beethoven.

An acclaimed songwriter, Irish super group Solas recorded Neill’s original song “Lowground” on their albums Waiting for an Echo and Reunion.

In 1997, he inked a three-record deal with the folk label Appleseed and was featured on their tribute to Pete Seeger along with Bruce Springsteen, Billy Bragg and Bonnie Raitt.

Hull is a widely appreciated singer-songwriter from Whidbey Island.

He has toured throughout the past 15 years bringing his songs, guitar, stories and humor to colleges, clubs, pubs coffee houses, and conferences, coast to coast.

He has traveled with his music, but his music has traveled even further.

Bands and singers from all over the world are known to cover his originals.
