NOLS book discussion groups scheduled for October

PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Library System will host book discussions in person and online this month.

The Wednesday Evening group will meet in person at the Port Angeles branch library, 2210 S. Peabody St.; the other groups will meet online.

• The Second Saturday Book Discussion Group will move back to Zoom meetings at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.

The group will discuss “One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Gabriel García Márquez. Paperback copies are available for pickup at the Sequim Library.

The group will discuss “The Plague of Doves” by Louise Erdrich in November.

• The Second Tuesday Book Discussion Group will meet online at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, to discuss “Becoming” by Michelle Obama.

Paperback copies are available for pickup at the Port Angeles Library.

In November, the group will discuss “The Beekeeper of Aleppo” by Christy Lefteri.

• The Novel Conversations Book Discussion Group is set to meet online at 4 p.m. Oct. 26 to talk about “A House Without Windows” by Nadia Hashimi.

Paperback copies are available for pickup at the Sequim Library.

The group plans to discuss “Come Home, Indio: A Memoir” by Jim Terry in November.

• The Wednesday Evening Book Discussion Group will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the courtyard outside the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., Port Angeles.

The group will discuss “Deacon King Kong” by James McBride; paperback copies are available for pickup at the Port Angeles Library.

Its November selection is “My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry” by Fredrik Backman.

Registration, at www.nols.org, is required to join the online meetings and is recommended for the in-person discussions.

The Novel Conversations and Wednesday Evening groups will meet a week early in November, on Nov. 16, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
