Nature Mart offers holiday gifts for the whole family

SEQUIM — With the holidays right around the corner, the Dungeness River Audubon Center has you covered.

The 11th annual River Center Holiday Nature Mart is set from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Saturday at the center, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road.

The event features various gifts for humans and pets alike, a “sweet and savory” bake sale, a wreath/arrangement-making station, complimentary hot cider, photo opportunities with the center’s wildlife and more.

The holiday mart also features a raffle for a handcrafted bench by Tom Butler of Wren Woodworking. Only 100 tickets for the raffle will be sold, at $20 each; they can be purchased anytime before the drawing at 4 p.m. Saturday.

All proceeds from the sale benefit educational programs in the community as well as the river center in Railroad Bridge Park on the Dungeness River. Staff, supported by a team of volunteers, continues to provide experiences for children in first through eighth grades in Sequim as well as other schools on the North Olympic Peninsula.

The center provides an Adventure Club for preschool-aged children throughout the year, several summer camps with a variety of topics, talks by local and visiting experts, weekly bird walks, a River Festival at the end of September, BirdFest in April, wildflower walks in the spring, a class to create an illustrated field guide to Railroad Bridge Park combining art and science, and field trips for teens and adults.
