Nashville-based singer-songwriter to perform at Rainshadow Recording

PORT TOWNSEND — Maya de Vitry will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rainshadow Recording Studios in Building 315 on Fort Worden.

Tickets are $20 per person at www.ticketstorm.com/c/17038/rainshadow recording or $25 cash or check at the door.

The Nashville-based singer-songwriter’s music blurs the lines of country, folk, indie rock and Americana.

Born in Lancaster, Pa., de Vitry has been influenced by writers like John Prine, Gillian Welch and Townes Van Zandt and by Bonnie Raitt and Nina Simone.

Formerly a member of the roots-Americana trio The Stray Birds, de Vitry released her debut solo album, “Adaptations,” in 2019.

“I’m not just making different music now,” de Vitry said. “It feels like I’m breathing in a different atmosphere.”

De Vitry released “The Only Moment,” her fourth album, in July 2024.

She has toured across North America and Europe with The Wood Brothers, Aoife O’Donovan, John Craigie and Mighty Poplar. She also has written songs that have appeared on albums by Molly Tuttle, Lindsay Lou, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes and Steve Poltz, and she has performed session work as a multi-instrumentalist and harmony vocalist on many Nashville recordings.
