Music on the Strait to host Friday performance

PORT ANGELES — Music on the Strait will perform Bach’s Goldberg Variations at 7 p.m. Friday.

The chamber music concert will be in the Donna M. Morris Auditorium at Field Arts & Events Hall, 201 W. Front St., Port Angeles.

Choose-Your-Price tickets are available, starting at $5, for most remaining seats at www.musiconthestrait.com.

“It’s exciting to be able to play music outside of our yearly festival structure,” said James Garlick, an artistic director for Music on the Strait. “This is our first foray into non-summer performances, which we hope to do more of. We’ve been inspired by the warm reception and continued excitement around the festival, so we’re thrilled to be able to come together with the community once again.”

Although the variations originally were written for the harpsichord, this performance is arranged for violin, viola and cello and will be performed by James Garlick, violin; Richard O’Neill, viola; and Karen Ouzounian, cello.

Garlick and O’Neill also will play Duo for Violin and Viola, “The Happiness of Two Salmon Returning Home” by Lembit Beecher, Music on the Strait’s composer in residence.
