SEQUIM — Tenor Tom Reis will sing at Music Live with Lunch at noon Tuesday during “Sing a New Song: Selected Psalms, arranged by composers from Handel to Haas.”
The concert will be at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave.
Music Live with Lunch, a musical community outreach program, features a 30-minute concert followed by lunch in the parish hall. Proceeds support local, regional and global concerns.
Tickets are $12 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. The church office is open from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays through Thursdays.
Reis, a Pacific Northwest native, serves as music coordinator, cantor and choir director at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Sequim.
For the half-hour program, he’s joined by Cynthia Webster, pianist at St. Joseph’s.
They’ll be singing and playing several Psalms including “Psalm 98: All the ends of the Earth have seen the power of God” by Haas, “Psalm 69: Thy rebuke hath broken his heart” by Handel, “Psalm 62: Only in God is my soul at rest” by Talbot, and many more.
Reis has been studying music since he was 9.
He earned degrees in humanities and health sciences at Seattle University in 1985. He also holds a doctorate in optometry from the University of California Berkeley and has practiced in Port Angeles since 1991.
In 2014, he became a diplomate certified by the American Board of Optometry.
Webster, a Port Angeles native, is a featured soloist, composer, vocal adviser and coach.
She joined forces with the late Gordon Nelson and the international award-winning Detroit Concert Choir in Wales, Austria and Spain.
After managing a studio in the Detroit area for 20 years, she returned home to the Olympic Peninsula, where she performs and teaches piano and voice from her studio in Sequim. She also writes novels and short stories about growing up in the area.
