Mud ‘n’ trucks set for 18th annual 4×4 Expo

PORT TOWNSEND — It’s the right time of the year for mud on the Olympic Peninsula.

In the spirit of mud, the Tonka Toyz 4×4 Club will host the 18th annual 4×4 Expo this weekend at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 4907 Landes St.

Drag races will start at noon Saturday and Sunday.

As the club describes it in a website post, it’s the Port Townsend mud drags.

A family-friendly event, general admission is $5.

Pit camping will be available on the go-cart track for $15 per night or $20 for the weekend.

Fairgrounds camping is also available.

If you like your trucks with mud, this is the event.

Saturday

There will be drag racing in the mud, double elimination by cylinders. Events are open to side by sides and quads.

Drags and derby registration and tech will run from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

A drivers’ meeting is slated for 11:45 a.m.

There is no late registration.

A lawnmower derby is scheduled after the drag races end.

Sunday

Tuff truck and bounty hole registration is set for 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a drivers’ meeting at 11:45 a.m.

Runs will start at noon.

The bounty hole competition will run after tuff truck.
