Moody Little Sister to play at Northwind Arts Center in Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — Northwind Arts Center will join Matt Miner Presents in welcoming New Mexico-based Moody Little Sister for an evening of song and stories at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Moody Little Sister is the combined creative brain trust and open hearts of Portland, Ore., producer-singer-instrumentalist Rob Stroup and Alaska native singer-songwriter Naomi Hooley, according to a news release.

Advance tickets are $12 each at Northwind Arts Center and from moodyls northwind.brownpaper tickets.com, or $15 at the door at the center, 701 Water St.

A modern-folk husband-and-wife duo, Moody Little Sister has magnetized audience’s imaginations since its debut album “Wild Places” appeared in 2015, according to the news release.

Though the writing has been described as “masterly” (Oregon Music News) and “earthy and approachable,” these are not songs charging toward the mainstream.

Moody Little Sister has built a loyal community around their music the old-fashioned way: one listening room, house concert, front porch and campfire at a time, said the news release.

Moody Little Sister has headlined the living rooms and backyards of fans across the land and appeared at large venues in the Pacific Northwest such as The Sisters Folk Festival, The Wildwood Festival, The Britt Festival, The Bite of Seattle and opening for the Indigo Girls.

Northwind Arts Center recently welcomed Matt Miner Presents as a new partner in presenting live acoustic music in Port Townsend. MMP has been producing concerts in the Portland area for 12 years, specializing in presenting touring artists from across the country and around the world.

More information is available from Northwind Arts Center at 360-379-1086 or songwriters@north windarts.org.
