Military, veterans saluted at Boys & Girls Club auction, dinner in Sequim

SEQUIM — With a patriotic theme as a backdrop, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula invites the community to take part in its 29th annual auction and dinner, “Red, White and You!,” on Saturday — Veterans Day.

It will take place at the Carroll C. Kendall Unit, 400 W. Fir St., starting at 5:30 p.m.

Event organizers will honor those currently serving their country as well as guests, board members and staff who have served. Military attire is welcome.

Nearly 400 guests are expected to attend and bid on 200 auction items from the community and surrounding areas. Auction items include jewelry, quilts, boots and fine wines, along with restaurant and service gift certificates.

Dinner will be catered by The Cedars at Dungeness and will feature top sirloin and halibut with chimichurri or butternut squash stuffed with vegetables and herbs.

The evening’s master of ceremonies is Todd Ortloff, and featured speakers include organization leaders as well as Ehmey Liggins, a club volunteer and mother of three club members.

Guests will be given the opportunity to “Bid for Kids” and make a gift to the clubs to support the organization’s after-school programming.

The goal is to raise $300,000, event organizers said.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula serves 400 youths daily in the Sequim and Port Angeles area at two clubhouses.

To donate auction items, volunteer at the event or for more information, call 360-683-8095 or email jgray@ bgc-op.org.

Online registration for the event is available at www.bgc-op.org.
