Matinee planned in Coyle on Sunday

COYLE— Folk/Americana singer-songwriter Jaspar Lepak will deliver sweeping melodies Sunday afternoon.

Lepak will perform a matinee concert at Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The all-ages concert is by donation. The audience can enjoy complimentary cookies and coffee at intermission.

“This will be the third appearance of Jaspar and her husband, Kale Lepak, in Coyle and they are a solid draw for our audience here,” said Norm Johnson, organizer of the concerts.

“Jaspar’s lyrics contain beautiful storytelling and her equally beautiful voice is the best way to hear them. And this time she has a new album to share called ‘Close to Me.’ ”

A child of the Sonoran Desert, Lepak’s songs borrow influence from the many places she’s called home: Tucson, Minneapolis, Durban and currently, Seattle, according to her website at www.jasparlepak.com.

She frequently tours between her former homes and her new residence in the Pacific Northwest.

Lepak released her eighth CD, “Close to Me,” in September after an impromptu recording two weeks before she gave birth to her daughter.
