OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK — Marymere Falls in Olympic National Park will be a local participation site in the Worldwide Photowalk, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday.
The event is happening in thousands of cities all over the world, including the iconic falls on the Olympic Peninsula.
Photographer Gene Royer is the walk leader for the Marymere Falls Photowalk.
Royer has had many professional assignments in fashion, advertising, travel, hospitality, architecture and landscape photography in multiple countries.
Royer and his wife Kriss are the innkeepers and chef at The George Washington Inn and Estates near Sequim.
He has been actively involved as a Photowalk leader since it started in 2007.
The Worldwide Photowalk, dubbed the world’s largest global and social photography event, has grown immensely in size and popularity since the inaugural walk in 2007, according to a news release.
Last year, more than 25,000 photographers of all walks of life and skill levels converged to explore their corners of the world through photography and social community.
The event is free, but pre-registration is required.

Photowalks are created by leaders in cities all over the world. Walkers meet up at a pre-designated location — downtown areas, zoos and parks — to spend a few hours socializing, capturing images and sharing with like-minded people.
At the end of the Photowalk, many people get together to share their images and experiences.
In addition to the event, photo walkers will be able to upload their favorite photo or video to the Photowalk contest for a chance to win a digital camera, gift cards, apps, camera bags and other items.
There will be a grand prize winner and 10 finalists selected.
Participants can connect socially before, during and after the event using the #WWPW2018 hash tag on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
