Mark Pearson to bring his journey home to Coyle

COYLE — Mark Pearson will return to Coyle with a fresh batch of songs and stories to Concerts in the Woods at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The concert will be at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road.

Admission is by donation. Complimentary cookies and coffee will be served at intermission to guests.

“His relaxed, cohesive way of blending singing and storytelling is a pleasure to the ear and a comfort to the soul,” said series organizer Norm Johnson.

Pearson has been writing and performing since he was 15. His latest solo album, “Gratitude, Grit, and Grace,” contains 15 original songs that are said to represent a journey through his life.

His professional start was with The Brothers Four in December 1968. The achievements of the group include “Green Fields” and “The Green Leaves of Summer.”

Pearson’s “greatest story telling success to date is sharing his life’s journey in 49 virtual campfires in ‘One of Those Times in a Life,’ ” according to his website at www.markpearsonmusic.com.

Pearson told Johnson that he would call his Saturday concert “The Journey Home.”

“A year ago at a concert at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, I lit the 49th campfire — over the previous 20 years I found and faced fears, learned love, and found my way home,” Pearson said.

“It was during that time — that journey — that I learned to trust the power of ‘stories told, songs sung, and love shared to lead us home.’

“I introduced a new album at Benaroya Hall and will be performing songs from that album as well as a number of others,” Pearson said.

His other albums are “Soundtrack of a Journey” (2012), “Following the Light” (2010), “The Missing Peace” (2010) and “Let Love Go Forward” (1999).
