Makers’ Market to wrap at Port Angeles Fine Arts Center

Local artists’ gifts featured Thursday through Sunday this week

PORT ANGELES — This is the last week for the inaugural Holiday Makers’ Market, a showcase of local artists’ gifts at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Admission is free to the gallery, which is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, the final day.

In addition, the market will have extended hours on two nights this week. Thursday it will stay open until 7 p.m. during the luminaria-making workshop, open to the public with supplies provided for creating luminarias for $5 each. Then on Saturday, when the fine arts center celebrates the winter solstice with warm drinks and a free solstice crown-making party starting at 6 p.m., the marketplace will be open until 8 p.m.

The selection includes note cards, hand-dyed silk scarves and shawls, dolls, hand warmers, handmade journals, books of poetry and handcrafted wooden toys, with prices ranging from $5 to $100 and up.

The 21 participating artists include Jan Dove, Renne Emiko Brock, Michelle Johnson, Joseph Fisk, Sue Wolf, Diane Williams and Susan Hamilton, who makes beaded jewelry inspired by her Haida heritage.

For more about the Makers’ Market and other activities at the arts center, see PAFAC.org or call 360-457-3532.
