‘Love Letters’ presented for Valentine’s Day

SEQUIM — Olympic Theatre Arts will present “Love Letters” for Valentine’s Day.

The play running Friday though Sunday and Tuesday at the theater, 414 M. Sequim Ave., tells the story of two characters sharing their deepest thoughts from childhood to old age.

The curtain will rise at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Tickets are $35 and include the show, dessert and a glass of champagne.

Advance purchase is recommended. They are available online at olympictheatrearts.org or by calling the box office between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

“Love Letters,” a finalist for the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, was written by A.R. Gurney, who is best known for his play “The Dining Room.”

The love letters are a series of letters exchanged over the two characters’ lifetimes, sharing their deepest thoughts along the way.

The production is directed by Kyle LeMaire, the executive director of the Juan de Fuca Foundation for the Arts.

“The greatness of this show is how the words are guided and delivered through the performers,” LeMaire said.

The show will feature two casts.

Friday and Tuesday will reunite the co-stars of OTA’s 2019 production “Bakersfield Mist:” Steve Rodeman and Sara Nicholls.

Saturday and Sunday performances will bring together Ron Graham and Angela Poynter, real-life husband and wife and romantic couple co-stars from Ghostlight’s production of “White Christmas.”
