Author Jerry Koch speaks at the next Fourth Friday Readings in Sequim.

SEQUIM — Author Jerry Koch will discuss his historical work “My Father, Myself: Letters, Mysteries and Discoveries from WWII” at Fourth Friday Readings.

The free lecture will be at 6:15 tonight in the media room at The Lodge, 660 Evergreen Farm Way.

Koch’s work is the story of an infantryman drafted into the trenches of hell, organizers said.

The book follows the soldier through his letters home, sent from basic training through his last days on Okinawa.

Koch is an outdoorsman and geologist who has taught at Harvard University, organizers said.

He and his wife now live in Sequim.

Following the featured speaker will be an hour of five-minute open mic readings. Interested writers should rehearse because readings are timed; arrive early to sign up.

For open mic guidelines, email to heidi@olypen.com.
