The New Old Time Chautauqua’s magic traveling troupe will present a live Virtual Vaudeville Celebration at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Most of the artists will perform from their own homes in Port Townsend, Bellingham, South Carolina, New Jersey and other communities, said Chris Bricker of Port Townsend, contact person for publicity in the Pacific Northwest for the New Old Time Chautauqua as well as one of the performers in the show.
The Virtual Vaudeville Celebration (VVC) will combine circus, music, magic, vaudeville, and the arts in a show accessible to all on the North Olympic Peninsula and the rest of the world. It will continue for at least two hours, with a 10-minute intermission, Bricker said.
“It’s a wonderful way to spend a Sunday evening,” Bricker said in a phone interview on Thursday.
Tickets are $20 per screen and are available through Brown Paper Tickets at notcvirtual.brownpapertickets.com. The Zoom Id and the password will be emailed to ticket-holders one hour before the show.
Bricker will perform as a Barnum and Bailey clown.
Artis the Spoonman of Soundgarden “Spoonman” fame, will perform at Bricker’s home in Port Townsend. Aerialista Tayna Gagne will perform a balancing ladder act “in a very tall rehearsal space,” a quarry in Bellingham, Bricker said. The rest will perform in their own homes.
They include Everyone’s Favorite 8 Foot Clown, Godfrey Daniels; Broadway Stars, The Flying Karamazov Brothers; International Eccentric Performer, Poki; The World’s Best and Most Famous Bubble Guy, Tom Noddy; Performance Artist, Nonny; Funny Man and Physical Maniac, Frank Olivier; Award-Winning Magician, Joey Pipia; Multi-Instrumentalist with Hands and Feet, Fiona Rose; Social Clown, Kristin Crowley; Band Composer and Tune Savant, Thaddeus Spae, as the Incorrigible “Uncle Pappy”; Tuba Toting Thespian Supreme, Phina Pipia; Swinging Singing Troubadour, Harry “Boom Boom” Levine; Professional Whistler Extraordinaire, Jason Serinus — known as the Pavarotti of Pucker, Brinker said; Physical Comedienne, Sayde Osterloh; Beltin’ Balladeer, Kym Trippsmith — Plus the Most Amazing Horn Band, now Virtual, and now celebrating its 45th year together (though socially distanced), The Virtual Fighting Instruments of Karma Marching Chamber Band/Orchestra.
The VVC, directed by NOTC co-founder Paul Magid of the Flying Karamazov Brother, “celebrates Humanity … just one week before the Summer Solstice and the longest day of 2020,” according to a press release.
“New Old Time Chautauqua had to cancel its benefit shows slated for April 17-19 and also had to cancel its plans for this summer’s tour to Wisconsin to register voters for the November general elections,” the release said.
“Now, NOTC is going to bring that big show to the little screen.”
Proceeds will go toward NOTC, which, since 1981, has brought its show to communities, tribal groups, boys and girls clubs, prisons and juvenile detention centers throughout the Greater Northwest. It went to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
All donations are tax deductible, as NOTC is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization.
