PORT ANGELES — Jammin’ in the Park will return to Waterfront Park at West Railroad Avenue and North Oak Street in Port Angeles on Saturday for live music, food, carnival games and a car show.
The festival will be from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“It’s just a good way to spend a Saturday afternoon,” said organizer Steve Zenovic, Nor’Wester Rotary’s special projects coordinator.
Entrance to the fourth annual Jammin’ in the Park is free and hot dogs, hamburgers, soft drinks, beer and wine will be available for purchase.
Everything else — including a car show and performances by Ches & Friends, Bread & Garvey Quartet, Dan & the Juan de Fuca Band, Black Diamond Junction and Buck Ellard — will be free for the family.
Proceeds from the event’s sponsors will fund about $10,000 in scholarships for local high school seniors, Zenovic said. The approximate 20 to 22 scholarships Nor’Wester Rotary doles out each year go to students pursuing college or post-secondary career and technical education.
There will be a variety of children’s activities and, as in other years, a variety of motorized toys.
This year’s car show will feature Subaru enthusiasts from throughout the Puget Sound region.
A raffle drawing will take place as well. Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased any time before the drawing for the chance to win $5,000 or one of many other prizes.
More than $2,000 worth of prizes are up for grabs.
Proceeds will go toward scholarships and community projects.
Here is the lineup of live music at Jammin’ in the Park:
• 10:30 a.m. to noon — Ches & Friends.
• Noon to 1:30 p.m. — Bread & Gravy.
• 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. — Black Diamond Junction.
• 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Buck Ellard.
• 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. — Dan and the Juan de Fuca Band.
Jammin’ in the Park took its current name in 2015, when Nor’Wester Rotary members saw an opportunity to hold a summer event at the new Waterfront Park. Before then, Arts in Action, an annual street fair, took place for about 40 years.
Zenovic said Rotary is just one of many service organizations in Port Angeles that works to improve the community.
“We’re just happy to do something for our community,” he said.
