PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles High School Thespian Society will present the play Little Women, adapted for the stage by Jaqueline Goldfinger from the 1869 classic written by Louisa May Alcott on Thursday through Sunday.
Little Women will be presented at the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center at 304 E. Park Ave., at 6 p.m. Thursday, 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors 60 and older and free to children younger than 10. Tickets can be purchased only at the door by cash or check .
Alcott based this novel on her family’s experiences growing up during the Civil War era.
This story follows the four March sisters: tomboy and author-to-be Jo, sickly and shy Beth, graceful and classy Meg, and spoiled and artistic Amy. All are extremely devoted to one another and to their mother, Marmee, who struggles to hold the family together while their father is away fighting in the Civil War.
The performance includes students participating in the Thespian Society and the Drama Club under the direction of Ellyn Doig and her assistant director, junior Molly Beeman.
The stage manager is Maddison McIntyre, sophomore, along with her assistant stage manager, senior Francesca Vollmer. Student performers include freshmen Amalia Bell and Emily Boling, sophomores Lillie Commeree, Josey Cooley, Kaylie Mast and Berkley Thompson; junior Madeline Adams, and seniors Alex Herring, Rayna Mathison and Kai Snook.
Production is supported by, and in partnership with students from the Port Angeles High School Theater Tech class, taught by Barry Landry. Student tech crew includes freshman Freyja Waknitz; sophomores Grace Kathol and Annabel Villa; juniors Xavier Caskey, Shayla Partridge and Makenna Larson; seniors Mckenzie Trantham and Zelby Gloria and other supporting students “who are too numerous to mention,” the press release said.
