Lenke Jazz-Folk Quintet to perform Thursday

Concert in-person in Port Townsend and streamed

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jean Lenke Jazz-Folk Quintet, a jazz-folk fusion artist and her band, will perform at the Candlelight Concert series at Trinity United Methodist Church on Thursday.

The 7 p.m. show will be one set with no intermission.

Doors at the church, at 609 Taylor St. in Port Townsend, will open at 6:30 p.m.

Admission is free, organizers say, but they suggest a donation of $15 per person. Masks are required for in-person attendees.

The performance will be streamed live at https://trinityumcpt.org/concerts, where there is a link for the Candlelight Concerts Online and ways to donate.

The concert also will be simulcast on KPTZ FM 91.9.

Half of the proceeds will go to Lenke’s chosen charity, Dove House, www.dove housejc.org, whose mission is to empower victims of crime and abuse in Jefferson County through education, advocacy and crisis intervention.

The Jean Lenke Jazz-Folk Quintet will present a selection of songs written by the late Burt Bacharach, who died earlier this month at age 95.

Bacharach wrote hundreds of songs for and with other artists throughout his lifetime — working with such writers as Hal David, Carol Bayer Sager, Elvis Costello, and musicians Dionne Warwick, Neal Diamond, Herb Alpert and Ella Fitzgerald recorded his music.

Backing up Lenke are Steve Kirk, guitar; Ted Enderle, bass; Pete Harris, drums; and Ed Donohue, trumpet and flugelhorn.

Lenke, a jazz, folk and blues vocal artist, performed live music for many years in the Philadelphia area and is now creating new music in the Pacific Northwest.
