LEGO program set for Sequim, Port Angeles libraries

Children are invited to construct Lego creations and build stories about them at monthly Build It! programs hosted on Saturdays at Sequim and Port Angeles libraries.

Youths will be encouraged to let their imaginations run free while they construct their own creations using Lego bricks. Participants will be encouraged to write a story about their creation, which will be photographed during the program.

Parents or caregivers are asked to accompany all children under age 8.

All materials will be provided, and Lego bricks and creations will remain in the library at the conclusion of each program.

Build It! programs at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., are from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, Jan. 4, Feb. 1 and March 7.

Programs at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., are from 10 a.m. to noon on Nov. 16, Dec. 21, Jan. 25, Feb. 29 and March 28.

North Olympic Library System oversees public libraries in Sequim, Port Angeles, Forks and Clallam Bay.

The library system’s Lego collection was built with the support of the North Olympic Library Foundation, Friends of Sequim Library, Port Angeles Friends of the Library, Girl Scouts of Western Washington and brick donations from library patrons.

To make a Lego donation, contact Jennifer Knight at jknight@nols.org or call 360-417-8500, ext. 7733.

For more information about this and other programs for youth, call 360-417-8500, email to youth@nols.org or visit www.nols.org.

The Jefferson County Library at 620 Cedar Ave., Port Hadlock, will host Build It with BLOCKfest from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.

Children 8 months to 8 years old and their caregivers are invited to BLOCKfest, a free, interactive family event featuring thousands of blocks and five block play stations.

Children will enjoy the educational value of blocks, while parents and caregivers discover ways to help children learn early math and science concepts through conversation and play involving blocks.
