OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK — Lake Crescent Lodge opens for the season Friday.

The lodge, at 416 Lake Crescent Road off of U.S. Highway 101 west of Port Angeles, was built in 1915 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It is tucked among huge fir and hemlock trees on a glacially carved blue-green lake. Guided kayak tours are available.

Nearby are several hiking trials, including the trial to the 90-foot Marymere Falls and the Moments in Time nature trail.

The Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort, which is at 12076 Sol Duc-Hot Springs Road off of Highway 101 west of Port Angeles, reopened for the season on March 25.

It is well known for its hot spring pools and the nearby trail through old-growth forest to the cascading Sol Duc Falls.

The Log Cabin Resort will reopen for the season on May 21.

Outdoor activities include an array of water activities on Lake Crescent such as paddle boats, paddleboards, canoes, kayaks and fishing.

It is at 3183 E. Beach Road.
